I have to admit I didn't think the Oscar's last night was a good of a show as it has been in the past. I though Anne and James did a fine job at hosting but I miss the days of Billy Crystal entertaining us with songs and dances throughout. I did think Anne looked fantastic and had some of the most gorgeous dresses of anyone throughout the night. I don't think there were any real surprises with the winners but I also have not seen hardly any of the films so have no input to give. I know Natalie Portman was the clear favorite for best actress but I was kinda pulling for Annette Benning simply because this was her 4th nomination without a win. But who cares about the show, I did watch all of the red carpet!
I found the dresses to be a bit subdued from the Oscar dresses in the past. There weren't that many sequined dresses or huge ball gowns. There were a ton of dresses that I loved and of course rockin bods flaunting each of them. My best dressed goes to Gweneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein. SOOOOO FINE!!!!! I have a huge Gweneth crush and she looked stunning. Not over the top but she got your attention. Below are my favs of the night.
Can you believe Celine Dion just had a baby in the fall? Her body is sick and very age appropriate dress.
Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein.
I thought the Monique Lhuillier dress was perfect for Mandy. It blends into her skin tone perfectly and I love the coral lip with it.
This color is stunning on Mila Kunis in Elie Saab.
Halle Berry could wear a trash bag and look fabulous as long as it hugged her figure in all the right places.
This Givenchy dress was a close second for best dressed. It is phenomenal!
Gweneth in Calvin Klein. Love the earrings to match the side bead design.

Just Because
Just wanted to post a pic of the flowers my sweet hubby brought home for me Tuesday. He said sometimes pregnant women just need flowers. So sweet and quite a surprise I might add. Have a great weekend!

We Have Movement!
This past week has been very interesting. First we found out the sex of the baby. And then everything started changing. I had always heard of the unbelievable things people will say to you when you are pregnant. Well, I experienced my first one of those people last week. One sweet lady at my church was talking about how to tell on a person if they will have a girl or boy. She said that a girl carries only the weight in the tummy and a boy mama carries their weight everywhere. Then she proceeded to tell, "I saw you the other day and thought you were going to have a boy. Your weight is everywhere, your tummy, face, just everywhere." I almost fell out on the floor. Oh well. Thanks for busting my bubble! I was commending myself cause I had only gained 6lbs. in 16 weeks but apparently I need to take more snapshots of myself. Just FYI we all know that we don't look our best. There really is just no need to tell us.
Secondly, I am really tired of everyone telling me that now is the time to be working out. Yes I am aware of that as well. I ran for the first time in a while this week and it felt great. I am gonna run when I feel like it and have been doing the elliptical some but I'm by no means training like I was when I did my half marathon. I mean it's pretty hard to get motivated when my hips are still gonna get big, my backside even bigger and my face round.
Now, that I've vented let me get to the point I wanted to make on this post. Today at 10:38am I felt the baby move. Not sure if it was a kick or punch but it was definitely movement. Many people had been asking me if I had felt the baby yet but I hadn't and was getting a little nervous. All my reading said it feels like a flutter. My friend Valerie described it to me best. She said it feels like a light thump. Sure enough that's exactly what it felt like. Very exciting I must say. Ben is so jealous and can't wait til he can feel. I tried to explain to him I could barely feel it so he still has a ways but he's convinced if we shine a flashlight at my belly the baby will move and he can feel it. I should have taken a 17 week pic cause boy what a difference a week makes. It's like all of a sudden I have a noticeable bump. I'm seriously down to about 3 pairs of pants I can button. Guess that's how it goes!

Grammy Wrap Up
Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. know I live in the south and shouldn't even complain about the cold weather but this winter has been just brutal. I am so thankful for the beautiful last couple days we have had. 60's and 70's are my kind of temps. It makes me want to buy spring clothes and break out the sandals real bad. Seems we always have another chilly spell in March or early April though so I won't put up the winter coats just yet.
I admit I didn't really watch the Grammy's but I did watch some of the red carpet. I love the Grammy's because the looks are always a little edgier. Some are really good and of course some are just beyond aweful. I am not going to even post the ugly ones. The trend this year really seemed to be metallics and sequins. If you wore these dresses your body better be rockin cause those dresses are unforgiving. As I sat and watched and ate my ice cream I was dreaming about the day when my body would look a tenth of that good again. It will all be worth it in the end I know but I am already dreading having to work out hard to loose weight. That's just no fun. Below are my faves from Sunday night. Enjoy!

Boy or Girl?
Well, we went to the Dr. Tuesday. She had said from the beginning we could probably determine the sex at 16 weeks but if not I could go back and have the tech ultrasound me at 18. Hallelujah! She was right! Sure enough, these are how the events unfolded. We took a look at the baby and got the heartbeat measurement. She said based on the heartbeat there was a 70% chance it was a boy but let's see if it will spread it's legs so we can get a good view. She also proceeded to say both of it's hands were by his side and legs so it was probably a boy. It took a few minutes but we got the pic. Some of the close ups of the ultrasound were a little hard for me to pick out parts but she froze the frame and said ,"wow! that's not falling off!" The private part was pretty big for a baby and right there front and center for us to see. We played around with the ultrasound again to get a second confirmation and got it. It's a boy! My tuition all along was right. So thrilled we can finally call "it" a "he". But more importantly, he has a name.
Please welcome Michael Aiden Haddox. Both my husband and his dad's first names are Michael so we just had to use that. Aiden has no special history except I've always really liked it and it seems to flow well with Michael. I really like family names but they are slim on the men's side. We have a family girls name we love so we are holding on to it hopefully for the future. Ben said the pressure is definitely off now that's it's a boy but he really wants a girl. How precious is that? So far, almost everyone has guessed boy so it hasn't been that big of a surprise. My parents however, are out of town and will not find out til this weekend. My mom is beside herself but I just couldn't bring myself to tell her in an e-mail. That's just no fun.
Since I can't but myself any cute clothes right now wouldn't you know that very day I went out and bought a few baby outfits. I got the most adorable onesie with jungle animals on it (no pic sorry). Also, I haven't officially decided on the bedding but have several ideas I'm tossing around. I will post inspiration pics shortly. I did buy this precious moses basket from Restoration Hardware because it was on sale and I know it will go in the room no matter what I end up with. Thanks everyone for the congrats so far and we will continue to pray that our baby boy is healthy.
P.S. I am also documenting my belly growth at 8 week intervals. Pic 1 is 2 months and Pic 2 is 4 months.
